Distributed Acoustic Sensor System (DAS)

PipelineSDH has aligned itself to Fotech Solutions Ltd as its sole strategic partner in Nigeria. SDH is providing procurement, supply, installation and commissioning of Fotech's technology in Nigeria. SDH engineers, technicians and field staff have been fully trained by Fotech to their exacting standards to ensure that a 100% delivery of quality can be maintained at all times.

Fotech's Helios system analyses the back-scatter of pulsed laser light to turn a comms-grade optical fibre cable into a high fidelity monitoring instrument that can identify, characterise and position acoustic events and vibration to an accuracy of 1 metre.

The system can interrogate fibre lengths of 50km per channel, giving 100km potential range for a 2 channel device.

The system can create significant value in a number of business sectors, including :

  • Intruder security - for linear assets such as pipelines, railways, borders, perimeters, power transmission lines
  • Leak detection - for crude oil, LNG and product pipelines
