SDH Project Services Ltd are looking for 3 x Man Tubing/Backfilling teams to work behind a Mechanised Trenching Team in Huddersfield and surrounding areas.

This will be to install micro tubing and subduct, backfill and compaction of the backfill in line with designed specifications and parameters. There will be no requirement for reinstatement works or cabling in this role.

People MUST have experience in :

  • Backfilling trenches/groundwork
  • Using whacker plate
  • Using Stihl saw

People will ideally have experience in :

  • Utilities
  • Installation of Micro/Sub Ducts in Open Trench

The Role

In this position you will supervise the excavation and reinstatement of a number of sites, which are being excavated to lay fibre cables. The role will include you undertaking the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct site safety checks to ensure all subcontractor sign, lighting and guarding and traffic management in general is appropriate and as per NRSWA spec
  • Instruct the contractors teams on appropriate sign, lighting and guarding as required
  • Complete joint site inspections to assess visual quality of Civils works
  • Conduct compaction tests as per specification to gauge the absolute level of compaction
  • Coach teams on appropriate Civils methods to ensure that build quality is maintained
  • Ensure all Civils works are to HAUC specification
  • Oversee core test regime and document findings with recommendations as required
  • Liaise with local communities to ensure build programme progresses smoothly and with minimum disruption

  • Ensure Construction phase plans and Health and Safety files are in place and being adhered to 

The main aim of this role is to ensure the quality of the work and to ensure that the surfaces and surrounding areas are restored to their pre-works state to avoid any fines including section 74's.

You will take a lead ensuring all of the teams perform their duties to the required standards and coach and demonstrate the quality of work you require. You will ensure all of the subcontractors will have the required signage out before any work begins and that the signage is in place while work is undertaken.

You will at times need to communicate with the client, subcontractors and managers of different levels about progress reports and any problems that may occur which affect the production of works.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience of working on the Openreach or Virgin Media network as a Civils supervisor or inspector on roads and highways working within telecoms. We are looking for supervisors who are professional and strong communicators, who are able to instruct operators but also be able to speak with clients and stakeholders when necessary. Ideally, we are looking for someone who has experience of working on the highways, inner and outer city.

It is essential that all applicants have a thorough understanding of NRSWA and CDM regulations and this includes holding a NRSWA supervisor ticket. We are looking for candidates who are flexible and thrive to take on additional responsibilities when required. We are looking for ambitious supervisors with strong attention to detail and good written and verbal communication.

Working with a Regional Infrastructure Contractor, we are looking for a highly experienced Construction Manager with experience of utilities, highways, infrastructure to join a busy and ever-growing team.

The role will be to lead this team on a multi-million-pound contract delivering a Fibre to The Home build (56k Homes) in the Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

The successful candidate will oversee construction of this delivery with a project value of circa £25m

Responsibilities

  • Project manage works up to £25m.
  • Attend client and contractor meetings.
  • Understand and work to NEC 3 (Option B) Contract.
  • Promote and work to Right first, on time approach.
  • Promote best practice and work safely in conjunction with our HSQE manager.
  • Produce and monitor tracking tools to deliver the change control services.
  • Work closely with Project Commercial team to capture Early Warning, Compensation Events and Applications.
  • Provide support to different members of the Delivery team.
  • Ensure all site adhere to the highest H&S standards.
  • Monitor Programmes.

About you;

  • Extensive Project Management experience of delivering projects between £15m to £30m.
  • BSc (Hons) Degree in Civil Engineering (Desirable).
  • Preferable Highways, Roads, Utilities experience.
  • Ability to interact at a senior management team level through presentations, one to one meetings.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages, particularly Word, Excel, Project.
  • Strong Leadership, interpersonal and team working skills.
  • Ability to work to a consistent high standard with minimal supervision.
  • Desire to learn and develop.
  • Full, preferably clean, UK driving licence.
  • Subject to a DBS check.

The successful candidate will be proactive, experienced in all aspects of site management and will be responsible for Health and Safety Management, record keeping, quality control, coordination of Direct Labour and Sub-contractors through two Build Managers, one Fibre Manager and responsible for the managing and procurement strategy of all Vendor related materials and monitoring progress to ensure key dates and milestones are met.

Main responsibilities

To be responsible for the effective, efficient running and manage the supervision of all operations on site.

To co-ordinate with the site management, Site Supervisors to satisfy contract programme requirements, delegating or carrying out setting out as necessary.

To assist the Site Operational Team in the initial site set-up, actively installing Company systems and procedures.

To rigorously apply effective planning techniques, methods analysis and controls to ensure the most effective and continuous use of resources.

To actively support the Management in maintaining and enforcing safety standards as required by statute and in accordance with the Company's Safety Policies.

To actively lead and be responsible for monitoring the quality of the works in conjunction with the Test and Inspection Plan, maintaining as built records.

Salary : £50-£60,000pa + Car + Company Bonus Scheme + Package
