Read Colin's biography
Project Director - Colin Brown has been in the telecoms industry for 31 years, starting when he joined the Royal Signals in 1986. Colin's experience has derived from the Telecommunications Design & Construction environment, having participated in major global projects on Fixed and Mobile Networks over many years. Having accelerated in his career with several market leading companies, he has succeeded in positions such as Project Manager, Contracts Manager and Business Development Manager with various Fixed Line and Mobile Infrastructure Companies during his career. Colin started all this as a young engineer whilst in the Army and took this experience into Civilian Life, where his skills, experience and leadership enabled him to participate in some major global telecom projects in all continents around the world.
As the Project Director, Colin has an operational management team who report to him daily. The Team are responsible for the delivery of all projects and ensure they are executed on time and to budget, given the ever-changing Telecommunications environment. Colin has expanded the Telecoms division of SDH into the more niche areas of the Oil & Gas and Power sectors in recent years, in technologies such as Asset and Perimeter monitoring solutions with leading vendors. Because of these strategic relationships, SDH now represent three of the largest specialist monitoring vendors today. Colin recognises that with the fast growth being experienced in the West African Telecommunications Market, that SDH needed to be involved in this region and have now already established themselves as the contractor of choice to support the growth of the industry in this region, having successfully completed projects in Cote d’Ivoire, Cameroon and Nigeria.
Colin is continually looking for strategic relationships in the Telecom sector in the UK and EMEA and has been heavily involved in the diversification of the Nigerian business regarding the offshore specialist Coating and Thermal installation activities. All this hard work recently paid off with the award and completion after one year of the specialist insulation of subsea infrastructures on TOTAL's Egina project in Offshore Nigeria carried out by SDH Integrated Services Ltd. The Egina Field is one of the deepest offshore oil fields in the world today at a depth of 1300 metres. This was a landmark project in Nigeria, as no Nigerian Company to date has had the capacity to undertake such a project. SDH were supported by Trelleborg Offshore UK and Norway, whose belief in SDH as an in-country technical partner was never in doubt. The delivery principals developed in our Telecom practices, enabled this revenue diversity and it is a sector with incredible growth in the coming years in and out of Nigeria.
Directors Statement: "The change in the telecom landscape in the last 2 years is been nothing but extraordinary, we are finding ourselves immersed in GFAST Copper and Fibre networks in various parts of the UK and overseas and with Passive Optical Networks changing by design and operational parameters every few months. Keeping up with strategic market direction and operators who are consistently looking at quicker connectivity to end users, is a job in itself. The team here at SDH has grown exponentially over the last 18 months and we are recruiting some very talented, Coordinators, Designers, Planners, Managers and Field Engineers and every single one of them are a valued asset to the future success of this company. They have all adopted the ethos of hard work and dedication whilst having fun along the way and they are a credit to themselves and the company."
